The Moody Crewe : The Moody Crewe is a group of local pirates formed in the Hampton Roads, VA area who portray the pirate crew of Christopher Moody who operated off the coasts of NC and SC between 1717 - 1718. The purpose of this crew will be to educate landlubbers (especially children) using both educational and entertaining activities, in the life of the typical pirate in the Golden Age of piracy. Virginia Children's Festival 2008 : The Moody Crewe invaded the Norfolk, VA waterfront on Oct 11th for the annual Virginia Children's Festival. Many young recruits attended the "School of the Pirate" earning their gold piece upon graduation.

Norfolk Harborfest 2008 : Despite the record breaking 100 plus degree heat, the Moody Crewe invaded Norfolk Harborfest on June 6, 7 & 8, 2008. Though some of our scheduled activites had to be cancelled because of the excessive heat, the Crewe spent all three days educating and entertaining any visitor who dared brave the relentless heat and sun. Pirate Day 2008- Windsor, NC : The Moody Crewe invaded the Roanoke/Cashie River Center in the small town of Windsor, NC for "Pirate Day" on Saturday, May 17th. The Crewe set up the Goose & Bull Tavern, held a "School of the Pirate", held a history lesson & discussion on the Golden Age of Piracy and ended the event with a live firearms demonstration. Of course the typical plundering and looting of the visitors took place, but not a complaint was heard. A good day was had by all.

Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum : The Moody Crewe visited the Naval Shipyard Museum in Portsmouth, VA on May 3rd, 2008. In addition to setting up the Goose & Bull Tavern, where visitors got a taste of a pirate's favorite hangout, the crewe also held a "School of the Pirate" were aspiring little pirates learned some of the necessary skills to become worthy seamen.
