2012 Super GT : August 19th, 2012 - The Pokka 1000 Super GT came to Suzuka for the 5th round of the championship series. This year's race distance was put back to 1000km(first time in 4years) since it was trimmed from 700 km to 500 km. In addition, this race was only run in day sessions, but still anything could have happened between the green light and the checkered flag. Come rain or shine... the show must go on -> the weather was a bit wet & rainy early in the morning, but by 8:00am the weather was perfectly clear, making way for a very hot afternoon at the race! This year, I was working out of the media center and had unrestricted access to the entire track(except the pit lane during the race) and walk through the teams garages get really up close to the cars! <i><font color=orange>What kind of race event in Japan would be complete without some delectable female eye candy there to spice things up and add quality... 2011 Super GT : August 21st, 2011 - Autobacs Super GT 2011 Series came to Suzuka for the one and only time this year for the 5th round of the championship series. This year's race, due to the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, was modified as a response to the national policy of energy conservation. The race distance was trimmed from 700 km to 500 km. In addition, the Suzuka round was only run in day sessions, but still anything could have happened between the green light and the checkered flag. Come rain or shine... the show must go on -> the weather was a bit wet & rainy most of the day, which led to the intense excitement of some cars slipping off the course suddenly and into the safety barriers! Tokyo Auto Salon 2011 : January 16th, 2011 - TOKYO AUTO SALON 2011 with NAPAC is the world’s largest auto exhibition with more than 600 vehicles on display as well as some 300 companies, associations and schools including after-market parts manufacturers, custom shops, car manufacturers, automotive businesses, and automotive vocational schools, etc. Exhibits will include not only custom cars and car tuning products but also every topic for those who love cars including intros to customizing technology and custom car product sales. Auto Legends 2010 : September 26th, 2010 - At the Auto Legends car show, there was quite a display of old Japanese cars that you don't get to see out on the roads. Along with lots of old & new cars, was some great live music from some local Japanese performers singing lots of "oldies" from the 50s-70s. It actually looked like a rockabilly convention more than a car show... everyone was rocking pompadour hairstyles and dressed like James Dean or Japanese Elvis impersonators. 2010 Super GT : August 22nd, 2010 - Autobacs Super GT 2010 Series came to Suzuka for the 2nd time this year on the 21st – 22nd of August for the 6th round of the championship. It was a long 700 km race, and anything could have happened between the green light and the checkered flag.The ARTA HSV-010 has shown in the opening round, the fast and flowing Suzuka Circuit suited the HSV-010. This race was a captivating battle between the favorite, the ARTA HSV-010 and the MOTUL AUTECH GT-R. The ARTA HSV-010 secured a win for Honda in the Autobacs Super GT 2010 Series, despite a collision with a backmarker earlier in the race.
