Seneca: 16 + 17 September 2006 : Kath and I for a solo, packed climb in the dark of 'old mans' to a overnight bivy on the summit block. Great weather in the mid 70s and sunny during the day. Oh yeah, followed up by a day of 'real' climbing.

Mount Toll : On the 6th of August we met Pete Gray in Boulder, and after a light breakfast we headed for a romp up Mount Toll. We started at the Mitchell Lake trailhead (after paying our seven dollars) and began the hike. Three miles later we were just below a completely fogged mountain. However, one cheese bagel later we could see the north saddle, and by the time we arrived at the saddle, we could see the first pitch. By the time we climbed the first pitch it was sunny. One more pitch and a fourth class scramble dropped us on top. We enjoyed the company of a large rodent and began the descent. Some pleasant glissading led to the lake and a slightly less pleasant three mile walk. All in all it was a pretty nice day, except when Pete drove over my new helmet while leaving the parking lot.

Snake Dike 13th May 2006 : Snake Dike is this amazing ten pitch 5.7 slab climb that goes up the side of Half Dome. We (me and Dan) walked up the night before and camped at Little Yosemite so we could get an early start and beat the crowds. The climb follows a granite dike line up the slabs and the only gear is the bolt belays and couple of bolts in between them - 20m runouts are mandatory. The climbing, though exposed, is pretty easy (which is lucky) and you finish the route on the summit of Half Dome with some stunning views of the valley. Of course it's still not finished as you then have to down climb the cables and walk back out.

Finishing Hammer 26th March 2006 : Me and Marney went for a look at the Weeping Wall and ran away as quickly as possible to do Finishing Hammer instead. Finishing Hammer is a multipitch WI3 in the Icefields Parkway an hour or so North of Banff. There were four pitches in all including the steep pitch below that Marney lead and a scary sustained water ice thing that I got to scrabble up. Howse Peak was in cloud most of the day until we got back to the car park.
