Richmond Yacht Club, Big Dinghy Regatta 2007 : Richmond Yacht Club is celebrating it’s 75th anniversary this year. Saturday racing was on three separate courses; Southampton, Potrero Course and Keller Cove. There was light air building to a moderate westerly in the afternoon. I was working crash boat duty on the Southampton course so I was not able to get over to the other courses for photos, my apologies. Sunday was a pursuit race around Redrock, Southampton, and Brook's Island there was a long course and a short course (just around Brook's Island for the sort course). Good wind at the start fading to a drifter and then building to moderate wind at the end of the race. http://www.richmondyc.org

Richmond Yacht Club, Big Daddy Regatta 2007 : Richmond Yacht Club is celebrating it’s 75th anniversary and the Big Daddy Regatta is celebrating it’s 25th anniversary. Bob Klein promoted this regatta through the years and if he was still with us he would probably still be out racing and winning. Bob would have been 81 this year. 139 boats racing on Saturday raced on three separate courses; South Hampton, Berkeley Circle, and Deep Water. With light air building to a moderate westerly in the afternoon. Sunday was a pursuit race around Angle and Alcatraz Islands that starting and finishing in very light wind, drifting conditions. The weather was warm in the high 70's not bad for the end of winter. For those that made it to Alcatraz they found some wind only to have it die in Raccoon Straits. Many did not start, gave up and retired, there where only a few finishers within the time limit of 5PM. http://www.richmondyc.org
