Richmond Yacht Club, Big Daddy Regatta 2007 : Richmond Yacht Club is celebrating it’s 75th anniversary and the Big Daddy Regatta is celebrating it’s 25th anniversary. Bob Klein promoted this regatta through the years and if he was still with us he would probably still be out racing and winning. Bob would have been 81 this year. 139 boats racing on Saturday raced on three separate courses; South Hampton, Berkeley Circle, and Deep Water. With light air building to a moderate westerly in the afternoon. Sunday was a pursuit race around Angle and Alcatraz Islands that starting and finishing in very light wind, drifting conditions. The weather was warm in the high 70's not bad for the end of winter. For those that made it to Alcatraz they found some wind only to have it die in Raccoon Straits. Many did not start, gave up and retired, there where only a few finishers within the time limit of 5PM. A portion (10%) of the profit from the sales of the photos goes to the Richmond Yacht Club Foundation. http://www.richmondyc.org
