Spoiled viewpoint : This is about a scenic viewpoint near my home in East Bremerton. The viewpoint is 1 mile north of Lyons Field on the Tracyton Beach Road. I often check it out for sunset photos and birds. Recently I noticed a very bad odor that smelled like a dead body. I looked along the bank where the odor was strongest and saw a place that was burnt by chemicals. My hunch is someone is dumping their RV holding tank over the bank.

N. Paul Drnjevic

of Bremerton

March 2, 1933

to May 12, 2012

Paul Drnjevic, of Bremerton, died unexpectedly May 12 after a short illness, with his family surrounding him.

Paul was born in the family home in Oak Grove, Ore. He was educated in Catholic schools from grade school through college and continued with two-and-a-half years at Mt. Angel Seminary.

He married Gloria on Sept. 14, 1957. Soon after, he earned his Engineering degree from the Univ. of Portland, then moved his family to Bremerton, where he began a 30-year career with the Dept. of Defense concluding at PERA CV.

He was active in his church, reading in local schools as "Cat in the Hat," local campaigns, Kitsap Computer Group, Master Gardener, West Sound Entertainment, EarthSave, Bremerton Area Chamber of Commerce, Knights of Columbus, and Boy Scouts. He was a "Mr. Fix-it" and mentor to many. As an activist, he worked tirelessly on many causes locally and beyond. Paul enjoyed traveling, visiting 50 states, 50 countries, five continents, and lived in Germany five years.

He is survived by Gloria, his loving wife of nearly 55 years; sisters: Fran Crivellone & Louise VanDyke; children: Br. Cyril, OSB; Joyce (Tom) Cowdery, Gina (David) Mousseau, Nita (Harold) Hartley; grandchildren: Monica, Marisa, Alana, Max, Jacquelyn, Brianna, Dominique & Trey.

His family would like to thank the local medical community for his superior care. Paul worked hard to make the world a better place; in lieu of flowers, his family suggests that you follow his example and help to make the world a better place as well. Even in his death, he is giving the gift of learning to others by donating his body to science.

A memorial service will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Monday, June 4. Rosary 10:30 a.m.; memorial service 11 a.m. followed by a reception.
