It was quite dark in the slots. This shot was a 30" exposure. As the dust drifted about, shafts of light would cut through, bounce off the walls, and light the rock from all directions.
Again looking up... note the lone tumble weed that drifted in.
Walking back to the bus from the ruins this ancient tree caught my attention. Bare branches reaching out and new growth at the center.

Day 1...

After several hours on the bus ride up from Phoenix we took a break at the Indian ruins at Wupatki National Monument. These are the Lomaki Ruins, and our first chance to shoot.
Day 2...
Glen Canyon National Rec at "Little Cut". Sunrise image of the "Haystacks".
I was just amazed at the ranges of color... this spot went from deep purple to an almost "hot lava" red.
More twists and turns...
The light would stream in through an opening, and bounce back up.
