Driving through Yellowstone National Park in the evening we came across a large meadow with a stream and some steam vents. The colors were amazing in the golden light so we stopped to get some shots. I was working my way through some brush and deadfall, trying to get a better angle on the sunset, when I stumbled into this bull elk bedded down on the edge of the clearing. I forgot about the landscape shot, the elk never moved as I took a number of pictures. I love the way the sun is highlighting his velvet antlers.

As I came around a bend in the trail she was just standing there in a beautiful pose with perfect light. On days like this I just thank God for His immeasurable blessings and the sublime beauty of His creation.
Fall is just around the corner.
The Mississippi River Lock and Dam system offers an abundance of bald eagles, stiff breezes, and the American flag. Dumb luck or photoshop... you decide!
