When I started my hike this morning the sun was shining and it was warm, within an hour the temperature had dropped to near freezing and it was raining hard. I came across my old friend deep in the woods, he was tending a doe and as long as she was bedded down he was willing to let me get a little closer than normal. This is the third year I've taken this guy's picture, its good to see he's still going strong.
Dragonfly--a Widow Skimmer male
Collared-hawk getting prepared to snatch a fish. The adult Black-collared Hawk has a more or less white head, tinged with buff, and with black shaft streaks on the crown. The body, above and below, and the mantle are bright cinnamon-rufous, paler on the chest. There is a black crescent on the upper breast.

Eastern Screech Owl, Megascops asio  This Eastern Screech Owl has gained quite a fan base. Located high on the Scarborough Bluffs, Rosetta Gardens in Scarborough is home to this small but cute little Screech owl, often seen perched a few feet away from the parking lot.
