> Bateaux at the North House Folk School; Grand Marais, Minnesota

This beauty is the product of the North House Folk School. It's a great place that teaches just about any traditional craft you can think of.

 > Shoreline, Temperance River State Park; Schroeder, Minnesota

A snowstorm is coming and the sun grows dim through the thickening clouds. For a little while, the light takes on a silvery tone that I love.

 > Icy Falls, Cascade River, Cascade River State Park; Lutsen, Minnesota

The Cascade River drops over many waterfalls on its way to Lake Superior. This is the last, and the most photographed, of the falls. Cold winter weather changed it considerably! The golden-amber color in the water and ice comes from tannins.
 > Edgar B. Speer Loading Taconite Pellets in Frost Smoke; Two Harbors, Minnesota

It was a bit below zero Fahrenheit when I took this one. A stiff southwest wind was pushing frost smoke off Lake Superior into Agate Bay (Two Harbors). The Speer's bridge is probably fifty to sixty feet above the water.
