Bright, colorful, and complete with a giant walleye head, the Beaver House is a Grand Marais landmark. It's worth a stop inside, even if you don't fish! Oh, the walleye's tail sticks up above the roof during the warm seasons. It's taken down come winter.

Unlike other North Shore rivers, the Temperance only rarely has a gravel bar across its mouth. It's said that this missing "bar" is how the river got its name.
