Worth1000 > popular all-time > Day 17 - Message in a Bottle - Sting.
We took the kids down to the beach AFTER DINNER tonight, much to their delight, and let them swim, and I actually had a swim in the sea for the first time in ages. I am usually a bit of a wimp at the beach, and stay dry and warm, but I had a thoroughly enjoyable snorkle with the kids on their boogie boards.

Anyway, this is what I came away with after I dried myself off. I could hardly decide between this one and the one with Ashley's hand in it. There were two others, too, that just didn't quite have the right atmosphere.

Incidentally, this is a tip to Pr4ctic's beautiful Beaches of Rio, and to Suedre's 30 days of Stuff that means something to her. The first tip is obvious, but the second needs some explanation...

The bottle is special to me as it used to have wine in it that Unicornbabe's Dad, Barry gave me when I went back home to South Africa for my School Reunion the year before last. He asked me to write a review of the wine, and although I drank it, and have kept the bottle standing on my desk next to my PC since then to remind me (over 15 months now), I have still not got around to writing the review. What a slacker! I think I owe it to him now to say that the wine was lovely and I made mental notes at the time about its taste, that I now completely forget. Very bad secretary I would make!
But John and I drank it over dinner and a home movie, and thoroughly enjoyed it. So, thank you, Barry.
Now the bottle still stands next to my PC with a funny little note inside it that says "Trapped in Paradise. Don't send Help!" And the label is now a bit tatty along one edge where the waves made a bit of a mess of it. It's getting character!
Worth1000 > popular all-time > Monet's Pond, Giverney, France. Monet's claim to fame as a painter was due to his role as a founder of Impressionism, and during the late 1870's his pictures were in the forefront of avant-garde art. Monet has an extensive flower garden in the back of his house wrapped around the pond above. He developed this pond by diverting a channel of water from a nearby river to run into the pond. Monet did many paintings around this pond and also from a row boat he had. More pictures of Monet's garden and house start on page 5.

This was not at all what I was going for today. My other idea totally bombed. "When life gives you lemons...you take a picture of them?" Is that how it goes? :)

Happy New Year!
Just a side note - I tried so hard to get the effervescent bubblies to come from the bottom of the glass...but I was down to two small champagne bottles...and they weren't too bubbly. :(
