Oakland Zoo - 2013 : I had great fun going to the Oakland Zoo for the first time. They have a lot of different animals that I haven't seen before, and I enjoyed walking around looking at them all. I think my favorite were the White-handed Gibbons, that swing from tree to tree in their exhibit. The reptile building is very nice, and the animals are well displayed in natural settings. The Elephants and Lions live (separately of course) in very large open areas, and have plenty of space to exercise. The Griffon Vulture is a beauty, and I was surprised to find that a Sun Bear can climb way up in the trees!

Bronx Zoo-Bronx NY April 2010 : A day at the Zoo with my Nephew The zoo (originally called the New York Zoological Park) opened its doors to the public on November 8, 1899, featuring 843 animals in 22 exhibits. The first zoo director was William Temple Hornaday. Heins & LaFarge designed the original permanent buildings as a series of Beaux-Arts pavilions grouped around the large circular sea lion pool. In November 2006, the Zoo opened up brand-new eco-friendly restrooms outside the Bronx River Gate. According to the Clivus multrum company, which built the composting toilets chosen by the Zoo, these facilities will service 500,000 people and save 1,000,000 U.S. gallons (3,800,000 l) of water a year.

San Francisco Zoo - Western Lowland Gorillas - 2012 : Here's the Western Lowland Gorilla family group. Oscar Jonesy is the Silverback, and the females are Bawang, Nneka, Zura & Monifa. Hasani is the 3 year old youngster. His father is Oscar Jonesy and his birth mother is Monifa. Bawang was the surrogate mother for Hasani, and he still runs to her when he's frightened.
