Alaska 9- 2006 : We spent a week cruising the inside passage of Alaska from Vancouver, Canada to Whittier near Anchorage. Over the next 2 wks. we rented a car to explore Denali, Hatcher Pass area, Cooper landing, Girdwood, Anchorage, & Seward. Two of the days, I flew to a remote area (Katmai at Brooks Lodge)300 miles east of Anchorage where the huge Brown Bears (grizzles)live and spent time watching them along with other photographers. The bear part of my trip was absolutely INCREDIBLE! I love Alaska, such wonderful natural beauty. What a trip!

FAU Football vs University of Louisiana-Monroe 27 October 2007 4pm, Lockhart Field, Fort Lauderdale, FL : Two Sun Belt Conference teams battled through regulation play and three overtime periods Saturday night with University of Louisiana at Monroe (3-5, 3-2) proving victorious in a 33-30 fan-thrilling victory over Florida Atlantic University (4-1, 3-1), Saturday at Lockhart. The Owls jumped on the scoreboard first with a 12-yard touchdown run by B.J. ULM evened the match just three seconds into the second quarter on a six-yard pass and took their first lead, 10-7, with 7:49 remaining in the half. FAU's William Rose hauled in a pass from Rusty Smith, who was 35-54-2 with 317 yards and a TD, to send the two teams to the locker room with FAU holding a 14-10 halftime advantage. Halftime was a celebration for the University's second-annual Athletic Hall of Fame class and the crowning of the 2007 FAU king and queen. ULM moved ahead for the second time of the game with 3:32 remaining in the third on the legs of Calvin Dawson's six-yard run. Dawson ended the game with 26 carries for 114 yards and two scores, including the 31-yard game winner in the third overtime. ULM took a 10 point advantage into the closing seven minutes of regulation when FAU's Warley Leroy cut it to seven with a 36-yard field goal. The Owls' defense forced ULM to punt after three plays and delivered on a game-tying, 24-24, 10 play 88-yard drive the left 1:12 on the clock. ULM responded with nine plays that included a fake punt that resulted in a 19-yard first down play and put the Warhawks within field goal range for the victory. FAU's Mauricio Riquer was credited with the block and Michael Lockley the recovery. The two squads went into overtime with FAU winning the coin toss and taking the first shot at scoring. The Owls drove from the 25 to the five. On fourth an one, the Owls elected to attempt a field goal which was blocked. ULM was given the same fate and saw their 38 yard field goal attempt miss. The squads met again at mid field with ULM earning the right to try first. After just two plays, one pass incomplete the second for a gain of nine. On third down, ULM elected to attempt a field goal. Cole Wilson connected from 33-yards to force FAU into a position of scoring. The Owls responded with a Leroy 37 yard field goal to push the score to 27 all and into yet another overtime period. FAU began with the ball on the 25 and drove four yards. Leroy then connected on a 24 yard field goal forcing ULM to score. Lynn University Soccer vs Palm Beach Atlantic October 7, 2006 1pm Boca Raton, Florida : BOCA RATON, Fla. - Lynn University's men's soccer team won one for the skipper on Saturday, defeating Palm Beach Atlantic 5-2 to give head coach Shaun Pendleton his 300th career victory. The Fighting Knights showed no ill effects from their loss earlier in the week as Dwight Barnett and William Young each netted two goals. Lynn improves to 10-1 on the season, marking the 21st consecutive year with double-digit victories. "I'm excited to reach it and get it out of the way," said Pendleton who is 300-35-11 (.883) in his career and holds the top winning percentage in NCAA Division II history. "It's a great accomplishment and something I'm very proud of. To get it at home was even more special. But the bigger picture is that we won an important game and at 10-1 we are closer to getting to our ultimate goal, a national title." Lynn opened the scoring just 2:32 into the game. Barnett and Kenneth Viquez used a nice give and go combination to free up space on the back line. Barnett then chipped a cross over the keeper where Young put home the first goal of the match. Less than four minutes later Viquez set up another goal. The senior midfielder drove a low cross from the right side across the six-yard box. Barnett one-timed the shot past the keeper for his team leading sixth goal. Viquez finally found back of the net in the 20th minute. Barnett heeled a pass inside the penalty box where Viquez juked the keeper and sent in a low shot on the open net to give Lynn a 3-0 lead. Barnett capped the first half scoring in the 30th minute when he collected a long through ball by Jean Alexandre and beat the keeper to the near post. The Fighting Knights, though, made some personnel changes at the start of the second half which didn't quite pan out. The defense lost the shutout in the 51st minute off an own goal. Then in the 58th minute Lynn couldn't clear the ball out of traffic and Cheyne Roberts scored from the top of the box, cutting the lead to 4-2. Young though squashed any thoughts of a comeback in the 67th minute. Leon Jackson headed a ball inside the six-yard box and Young out-muscled the Sailfish defense and tapped in the ball for his third goal of the year. LU's defense held PBA (5-8-2) to only one shot in the first half and four for the game.

FAU Athletics Announces 2007 Hall of Fame Class : BOCA RATON, FL - Oct 26, 2007, 6:30pm Florida Atlantic University has announced its 2007 inductees for the FAU Athletics Hall of Fame. Five Individuals and One Team to be Enshrined. The ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, October 26 at the Live Oak Pavilion on the Boca Raton, FL campus. The 2007 class includes five individuals - Oliver Agh (men's swimming, 1997-99), Craig Buchanan (men's basketball, 1993-97), Cecilie Lundgreen (women's golf, 1994-97), Kim Pruitt (volleyball, 1995-98), and Mike Ryan (baseball, 1982-84) - as well as the entire 2003 FAU football team. "This is our second hall of fame class," said Craig Angelos, FAU athletics director. "We are continuing to build upon the tradition for this young athletics program by recognizing the accomplishments of our past student athletes. They are the building blocks for today's success and tomorrow's future." Agh swam for the Hungarian national team from 1989 to 2000, participating in both the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games. He still holds numerous FAU records, including individual efforts in the 1,000m freestyle (9:17.51, 1998) and the 1,650m freestyle (15:34.03, 1996). Agh currently serves as an assistant coach for FAU swimming. Buchanan ranks first in career field goals made (582), and is second in all-time scoring (1,501 points) for FAU men's basketball. He was also the first FAU player to reach 1,000 points and the team's leading scorer during three of his four seasons, as the Owls transitioned into Division I and improved their record from 3-24 to 16-11 over that span. Lundgreen earned "Atlantic Sun Golfer of the Year" honors in 1994, winning the conference tournament as a freshman. The four-time all-conference selection also was named "FAU Female Student-Athlete of the Year" in 1997, and was the first FAU athlete in school history to earn a top league award. Pruitt helped lead the Owls' volleyball team to its first conference title - and the first NCAA Division I regional tournament appearance for FAU athletics - in 1998. Along the way, she earned Atlantic Sun tournament MVP honors. The three-time "FAU Female Student-Athlete of the Year" ('96, '98, '99) ranks among the top 10 in seven all-time Owls statistical categories and was named first-team all-conference in 1997. Ryan played a major role in building the FAU baseball program during its formative years in the early 1980s. The first baseman was a third-team Division II All-American in 1984, and his home run total (47) still stands as the best in FAU history. Ryan also spent four years in the Minnesota Twins' minor league system. The 2003 FAU football team achieved numerous landmark successes on the field. The Owls became the fastest program in NCAA history to register its first win over a Division I-A opponent, defeating Middle Tennessee State University (20-19) in FAU's 22nd football game. FAU rattled off a team-record 10 consecutive wins after a 1-2 start, on their way to hosting the NCAA Division I-AA national semifinal game. With a final record of 11-3, the team finished the season ranked fourth in the nation, prompting an invitation to join the Sun Belt Conference. Last year's inaugural Athletics Hall of Fame class included Laurence Bensimon (women's swimming, 1986-87), Keith Foley (baseball, 1983-84), Yolanda Griffith (women's basketball, 1992-93), Whitney Kraft (men's tennis, 1981-83), Noemi (Lung) Zaharia (women's swimming, 1990-93), Nikki Myers (softball, 1999-2002) and Steve Traylor (head coach - baseball, 1981-87). Honorees are selected by a vote of the FAU Athletics Hall of Fame Committee, a nine-member panel comprised of representatives from several branches of the athletic department. Nominations for 2008 will begin in March, and may be submitted to the committee by any member of the general public on behalf of any eligible individual. Eligible individuals include former FAU athletes, coaches and administrators, as well as other FAU supporters meriting special consideration. Admission to the Friday reception is by invitation only. The 2007 class will also be introduced in an on-field ceremony scheduled for halftime of FAU's homecoming football game against Louisiana-Monroe at Lockhart Stadium on Saturday, October 27.
