> Like, who HASN'T ever been told to clean the kitchen by their parents? I used to do it every night for years. Ohhhh, I was so sick of it.

What if Melvin was, too?
 > In high school we got to dissect stuff. It was pretty fun. But I envisioned Melvin's Dad as being anti-science and going nuts seeing a bloody pig in his house.

Of course, the result is kinda unique.
 > Melvin was completely fed-up with being told what to do by his Dad, so he just went nuts, knowing what normally happens at the end of a confrontation.

He just didn't care at the time.

 > By Andrew Schultz. Here's his description: This is the first Melvin I ever fully drew. I got this idea from Smoking Melvin and had to copy a lot of the Melvin strips to get started. You'll notice a few howlers. But basically I wanted to show his dad as a total hypocrite because I got a lot of that crap from various Adults in Authority and it only took me 10+ years to get over it. I guess I was also thinking of that Beastie Boys line "Ya pops caught ya smokin and he said no way/That hypocrite smokes three packs a day!" And of the time a friend and I went boating after middle school and his grandfather smoked this big long smelly cigar as he drove us to the beach. He only let us open one of those small rear windows behind the roll-down ones. Then our boat capsized..
