"MY TABLESCAPES" 2013 - 2009

These are my original ideas, designs, creations, and themes; you know what that means. "Imitation is suicide," said Ralph Waldo Emerson. Also, George Bernard Shaw said, "Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine, and at last you create what you will.”

"SUNFLOWERS" Theme

"Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you desired can be won. It exists, it is real, it is possible, it is yours." ~ Ayn Rand, Russian-born American Author

I have been creating tablescapes for our kitchen/breakfast nook area since December (2009) when I decorated our table for Christmas. View additional photos of this one and the entire gallery here: http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/11014855_M5W6FW#!i=2559534992&k=rfVmjXK

The sunflower chair backs (yes, those are chair backs and not placemats) were my inspiration to set the stage for a spring table setting that's warm and inviting. I paired the golden yellow with its complementary color, green, for a table setting that beckons everyone to gather around. Next, I tied in dishes and ceramic fruit (a lemon and a pear) to bring out the fresh seasonal feel of the sunflowers. After that, I reused the silver napkin rings, green glasses, and the Easter basket (centerpiece for our April table setting), to anchor the center of the table. Finally, after the meal, we sat and sipped..........on fresh, homemade lemonade, of course:).

Have a marvelous Monday!

"FLORAL and STRIPES" Theme

"A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.” ~ Washington Irving

The debut of our May table setting.......

Happy Mother's Day to ALL women!!! Believe it or not; we are nurturers by nature and in some way, either biological or spiritual mothers, surrogate mothers, mother-figures, Godmothers, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, aunts, sisters, cousins, sister-friends, and mentors.

Did you notice that I reused the placemats, napkins, and napkin rings from the April table setting? Also, I spotted the bowl in Wal Mart about two weeks ago, and during that time, it matched perfectly with the April table setting, also.

GOOD NEWS / EARLY MOTHER'S DAY GIFTS: I think I mentioned in one of my commentaries that I was enrolled in two graduate classes this semester while employed full-time; I am pursuing my 3rd degree - a Specialist degree and I am half-way finished. The semester officially ended last week and I earned an A in both classes (thank God) that were VERY challenging and involved a lot of reading, critical thinking, analyzing, and writing. All in all, I gained a wealth of knowledge, had the grace of God, a very supportive husband, and instructors who were true experts and professionals in their respective profession.

The table is spread; feast and enjoy your day!

I know that Easter eggs do not spiritually have anything to do with the Resurrection (Easter), but I like the colors and patterns.

"FUN AND FLOUNCY" Theme

"A good home must be made, not bought. In the end, it's not track lighting or a sunroom that brings light into a kitchen." ~ Joyce Maynard

The debut of our April table setting.......

This fun table setting, with a touch of Easter, incorporates everything spring: pastel colors, bright colored plates, and glasses on top of striped place mats to complete the look. Instead of basic white plates, I opted for color and a touch of pattern. The upbeat pattern and colors keep the solid, traditional plates from looking too bland. I thought about placing plastic eggs or a flower in the bucket, but decided not to, in order for the prints/patterns to scream the theme. With the exception of the centerpiece, all other accessories have been featured in previous table settings. Also, just for the record, I know that easter eggs do not spiritually have anything to do with the Resurrection (Easter), but I like the colors and patterns. By the way, the plate behind the basket is a bright yellow.

Additional photos of this and previous table settings can be viewed here: http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/11014855_M5W6FW#!i=2432055435&k=BvFWh5X

Be blessed and share the rest!
