"MY TABLESCAPES" 2013 - 2009

"Imitation is suicide," said Ralph Waldo Emerson. These are my original ideas, designs, creations, and themes; you know what that means. Also, George Bernard Shaw said, "Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine, and at last you create what you will.”

"PURPLE REIGNS" Theme

"You will find as you look back upon your life that the moments when you have truly lived are the moments when you have done things in the spirit of love." ~ Henry Drummond.

The day after Thanksgiving ........ which leads us right into the Christmas holiday! 'Tis the season. Here's how I spent Black Friday: getting ready for the holidays. There's nothing I need badly enough to endure the crowds shopping the day after Thanksgiving:).

OK - here she is - our December (Christmas) table setting. Of the many suggestions on table setting colors from friends, a colleague, SmugMuggers (Judy, Nelli, and Karen), and even children, I decided to go with...........drum roll, please........

Nelli's and my colleague's (you know who you are) combined suggested colors of purple, lime green, black, and silver! It's often said that "Great minds think alike." Judy and Karen, thanks and stay tuned; your suggestions will be used in forthcoming table settings.

"Why go for the same old when you can go for the bold?" Prior to deciding to decorate the table yesterday evening, I remained indecisive between the selected colors and red, silver, and lime green. With the exception of the ornaments, the sticks in the glass vase, and bowls, all other accessories were used in my August table setting. It took me approximately an hour and a half - mixing, matching, changing, and rearranging to pull this table together; and boy was I tired afterwards........whew!

As a reminder, ALL TableScapes are my original designs and themes; you know what that means. View additional photos of this table setting as well as the complete gallery of my table settings here: http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/11014855_M5W6FW#!i=2231434219&k=D2BCkws

"BLACK TIE" Theme

"I am not interested in picking up crumbs of compassion thrown from the table of someone who considers himself my master. I want the full menu of rights." ~ Desmond Tutu, a South African social rights activist and retired Anglican bishop

It's been four years already and today is the United States presidential election; please exercise your right to vote.

Here's the first posted photo and one of the first among several photos taken of the table setting using the new/upgraded digital toy with factory settings. For this month's table setting, I chose "Black Tie" as the theme. I reused the plates, napkins, napkin rings, and glasses from last month's table setting. Not much effort was spent into decorating it, but I love how the red, black and gold colors coordinate well together. Also, one of my favorite decorative items are marbles; they are versatile and fit well with most decor, settings, and themes. Now, I am awaiting a photo of Art Hill's table setting; it is usually lovely.

I really appreciate you taking time to peruse and comment on my photos.

Have a terrific Tuesday.
