The Kentucky Fellowship of Muscians (KYFM for short), kicked off their first music event with Winterfest/Wintergrass 2006 in Lebanon on Friday and Saturday Jan. 6 and 7. KYFM is a brand new, non-profit organization dedicated to music and musicians in Kentucky. Yearly dues are $20 and go towards helping promote music in the state. You do not have to be a musician or from Kentucky to join. KYFM will provide opportunities for musicians of all genres as well as interested members of the public to get together to perform, jam, attend workshops, concerts and special events and just enjoy music. Gary "Biscuit" Davis, the only three time national Banjo picking champion in the country and banjo player for Dolly Parton; and Kevin Moore, two time national guitar champion and music prodigy gave guitar and banjo workshops for two days before performing a wide variety of music - showing a packed house and appreciative audience the skills that make them national champions. The two bands who rose to the top of the battle of the bluegrass bands competition over the two day event also performed at a concert and buffet dinner Saturday night.
