"SPARKLE"

“Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.” ~ Oprah Winfrey

I've chosen "Sparkle" as the New Year's table setting theme. Additional photos can be viewed in the "Holidays / Holidays Travel" album. As you can see, I reused the black plates and napkins from the "Couture Christmas 2010" setting.

I know............you didn't expect to see a photo from me, right? Well, it was fellow SmugMugger billijean who said, "maybe it'll be harder to break away than you think!" Boy, was she ever right! This is such a great community of photographers. Once this photo bug bites and gets into your system, you are just bound to want to continue posting one a day.

So far, I do have the next four days off (hooray!!), which will allow me to make a few consecutive daily posts. I hope everyone is enjoying a "Sensational Saturday" on this first day of the New Year!

 > The Desert Botanical Garden celebrates its 33rd year of Las Noches de las Luminarias. The Garden comes to life with the soft glow from more than 8,000 handlit luminaria bags. As you walk the paths with a warm cup of cider, the sounds of handbells ringing and Dickens Carolers singing remind you of what the season is all about. This event is sponsored by The Arizona Republic.

"DESERT WILDFLOWER TOWERS"
(official name)

"As I have practiced it, photography produces pleasure by simplicity. I see something special and show it to the camera. A picture is produced. The moment is held until someone sees it. Then it is theirs." ~ Sam Abell

First of all, Donna McCommon, this is why I was so excited about your POTD yesterday; I had already chosen this picture to be my final post of the year when I arrived home from Arizona. This is SOOC without flash. I am a huge Dale Chihuly fan; great minds think alike!

Secondly, I would like to thank you, fellow SmugMuggers, for your inspiring comments on my 2010 POTDs. I learned so much from many of you, made some new friends along the way, improved my photography skills immensely, and even had a photo (12/21/2010) to land in the #1 spot, two photos (12/17/2010 and 12/29/2010) to land in the #2 spot, and several to land in the top five. Who knew that posting a photo a day would render such rewards for a self-described "advanced amateur?"

Moreover, I am so excited about perusing all of your 2011 fabulous photos, posting comments, and giving you a thumbs up. You ladies and gentlemen are meticulously discerning. I wish I could meet each of you on my route during this lifetime.

Finally, as the world turns, we only have one life to live. May the guiding light that leads to another world keep us young at heart, unrestless, and out of General Hospital. My prayer for each of you is a safe, blessed, healthy, fun, and happy 2011. In spite of the bumps and bruises, God has been exceptionally kind to all of us.

Cheers,
Godschild

 > This is one of my absolute favorite photos. I almost posted this one as my 12/29/2010 POTD, but my son suggested otherwise. I'm glad I Iistened to him, because the photo he suggested landed and remained in the #2 spot (occasionally #3) most of that entire day!! To see it, go to my "Daily Dose of One A Day" 2010 gallery; it is the third picture on page 1 or click here: http://godschild.smugmug.com/Project365/Just-Because/11754405_QVxhMp#1139208214_eKEJa-A-LB

"HOWDY, PARDNER!"

I spotted two of Arizona's iconic symbols in a window display.

Thanks a million for your kind comments regarding yesterday's POTD. I am still humbly and overwhelmingly amazed that it remained in the #2 spot (occasionally landing in the #3 spot) for the day.

Our youngest son deserves the credit for suggesting I post this one as opposed to another one I really thought would be a winner.

SmugMuggers, you are the world's greatest! Saturday is 2011; so, saddle up, put on a pair of cowboy boots, do-si-do, and have a Happy New Year!

I am so Godly proud that yesterday's POTD was so well-received; thank you to all who commented and voted. It landed and remained in the #2 spot. To view the #1 picture, click on the following link: http://sharkbayte.smugmug.com/popular/2/1158099325_G32ww#1158099325_G32ww
