"THE PINEY WOODS SCHOOL" 2008
Piney Woods, MS

My best friend and I stopped by for a quick tour of the campus as we were coming from Biloxi, MS and headed to the Jackson - Evers International Airport in Jackson, MS. The school was founded in 1909 by Dr. Laurence Jones, who came to Mississippi with nothing but a Bible, $1.65 in change, a dream of a school where a "head, heart, and hands" education would be available for poor, rural, children. The school has since attracted national attention for its old-fashioned teaching philosophy and phenomenal success.
