Day 18-of-30

Taken in our laundry room (white walls) with the Canon point & shoot @ 1/15sec handheld (both wrench and camera) with no flash and processed in Lightroom.

I originally thought I wanted the lights in the frame. But following the "less is more" theory - I decided to eliminate them in favor of some negative space.

Day 16-of-30

Edit 3/25/08: I guess I should point out that L-R are my niece, my wife and her mother. This was taken at my sister-in-law's house. She has a beautiful home and has really decorated it nicely. My wife and I have two boys 18 & 22. I didn't think anyone would comment on this photo so I didn't caption it.

Day 13-of-30

I know this is a poor quality image...but I couldn't resist making it my daily photo because this is the first time I've actually seen my kitty try to open the door to my bedroom. Up until today I had only heard her trying to open the door from inside the bedroom.

The picture doesn't show it very well, but she jumps up and grabs the door handle lever with her paws. I was sitting quietly at the computer just outside the bedroom and I think she thought I was still in there. I had the Canon point & shoot handy so I stealthily snapped a picture. Unfortunately, I missed the peak of her jump and caught her on the descent - one hind paw is still in the air.

I watched her make several attempts, but when she saw the flash she realized where I was and came over to give me my morning greeting.

Day 12-of-30

I have to cop to the fact that this was taken a month ago. I had a busy day and spent the entire evening and a couple of the wee hours this morning setting up the new computer we bought a week ago. I was really eager to see how well Lightroom would perform...I'm overjoyed. The old computer took 2min or more to load a single raw file. The new machine loaded a whole folder of raw files in just a few seconds...this is going to make post processing so much more fun! And finally I'll be able to use LR the way it was intended.

This photo was taken at the Center for Wooden Boats on Lake Union in Seattle. The reflection is their floating workshop that is moored just ten feet beyond the boat in the foreground.

Day 11-of-30

This is a reader-board above a car dealership in town. I snapped this through my windshield on my way to an appointment this afternoon. Once, when I drove past this sign as a new driver thirty years ago, it said:

"My boss has reached the metallic age;
he has silver in his hair,
gold in his teeth,
and lead in his bottom!"

Seemed funny back then...
Hits a little close to home now.
