Unloading donated goods from Deerfield, Illinois
An 18 wheeler truck with Load #2 drove out of the Chicago area on January 14th, and was unloaded by volunteers at OLA on January 16th. Items arrived in good condition. This shipment and a previous one are major success stories for OLA. Loads #1 and #2 consisted of donated furnishings and equipment which helped OLA replace items that were destroyed in Hurricane Katrina and bring new order to offices, classrooms, and other spaces. Both shipments would not have been possible without the help and efforts of many people. Furnishings and equipment were donated by Mercer Human Resources Consultants in Deerfield, Illinois. Loading and shipping expenses for load #1 were paid for by individual supporters from OLA and Mother McAuley High School in Chicago. Loading expenses for Load #2 were paid for by Dave Clark in Ohio, and the 18 wheeler truck hauling Load #2 was paid for by Hewlett Packard on behalf of Fidelity Investments. Big thanks go out to our financial helpers, as well as numerous other volunteers who were involved in the coordination and unloading. May God bless you!
