A Baha'i Drawing on the Power of the Word study circle had the chance, through a long standing initiative, to meet with a local Jr. Youth Christian group who had been meeting with other religious communities.
A few from the study circle which aims to:
Develop skills and abilities in junior youth, leading them to become active, eager, and effective agents of change in their communities.
We had a great time going over the first lesson in 'Drawing on the Power of the Word,' then answering a few questions,
'What is a jr. youth study circle?'
'Why do we do it?'
After snacks the jr. youth shared their insights into questions such as,
'What does it mean to believe in Jesus?'
'What is our purpose in life?'
and then each mentioning something that they liked most about being a part of their religion.
We finished off with a group game of tossing stuffed animals that revved us up. Everyone seemed to be really getting into it and having a great time!
...making room for the group picture.
The official group picture...
...even though this group picture better captures the spirit and energy of the event!
We really hope that we can do something like this again. Besides being fun it gave us a chance to act on our own beliefs to:
'Consort with the followers of all religions in a spirit of friendliness and fellowship,'
and to realize,
'The purpose of religion as revealed from the heaven of God's holy Will is to establish unity and concord amongst the peoples of the world.'
Afterwards, Jaleh (who serves as their Animator) and I had the chance to catch a quick bite to eat and talk about how well things went for everyone--a truly memorable experience.
Feel free to use and distribute these photographs and sponsor similar initiatives which serve to lower barriers amongst people and bring about a world envisaged by Christ in His prayer,
'...on earth as it is in Heaven."
