We started out at Rino Caracchi's NCR workshop where I met "Vicki 5", my mount for this years event as well as had a visit with the Caracchi family. Then it was off to Gambettola for the mostra scambio (swap meet in Italian) for two days of bargain hunting (with much success!) For those who have a passion for bargains and the thrill of the hunt, as well as a love of old motorcycles, Italy's "mostra scambio's" are heaven on earth. This one was about 30 minutes from Rimini, the city that will host the start of the 2006 Motogiro d'Italia, was both antiques and motorcycles, attended mostly by locals (unlike the bigger sales) and provided two days of entertainment as well as a couple of new motorcycles and quite a few additions to the parts bin and collection back in the US. What can I say? We're not sure if it's a passion or an addiction but we had a great time!
