A nesting leatherback sea turtle on Playa Grande, Costa Rica. This is the world's largest turtle that can reach three meters in length and weigh up to nine hundred kilograms (1984 pounds). The species is Critically Endangered and migrates from nesting beaches on coastal Costa Rica through Cocos' waters in a route that generally continues south through the Galapagos marine reserve.
