The 9th Annual African-American Legislative Day, Arizona State Capitol, Phoenix, AZ has built a tradition of education, activism and awareness. The two-day event brought the African American community face to face with some of the states political leaders. Some of who taken positions that adversely affect the community of color.

Hosted by State Senator Leah Landrum-Taylor, District 16, held February 10th and 11th at the Arizona State Capitol Building, featured national author and talk show personality Travis Smiley. Smiley addressed state Legislature members and conference attendees during the open ceremony. There were also presentations from various committees working to improve annd inform the Arizona Black community. During a round table discussion several committees presented their findings and issues they had targeted to inform and enhance the African American community of Arizona. Areas addressed were the environment, economic development, health and education.
