"INDEPENDENCE PARK BOTANIC GARDENS" 2011

Baton Rouge, LA 70806

The Botanic Gardens contain displays of blooming woody ornamental plants, perennials, annuals, ground covers and wetland plants. These include the Rose Garden, the Crape Myrtle Garden, Sensory Garden, Children's Forest and the Louisiana Iris Garden. Visitors can walk 1.8 miles of walking trails and fully experience the beauty of the Botanic Gardens.

> Tuesday, April 26, 2011 "CASCADING GLORIOSA DAISIES" "Be courteous to all, but intimate with few; and let those be well-tried before you give them your confidence." ~ George Washington Has there ever been a daisy as lovely as these "Gloriosa Daisies," with their shades of yellow, orange, and red ringed around a large, glittering center? These huge blooms are of the richest butterscotch and orange with a deep big center "eye!" The beautiful weather (temps in the lower 80s) was an added bonus. When I captured these, I had no idea that they appeared to be cascading in a half circle. Don't you just love strolling through gardens? I do; they are not only beautiful, but offer a peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle of daily activity. Thanks fotoeffects for the accurate name of these flowers.
