Rick Orrell (Ricardo38) > May 21, '08 - "Leftovers" "Cracked, crushed and beyond repair I lay on the warm concrete waiting for the inevitable to happen. At one time I was pretty, as far as candy goes, but the ravages of time and the insensitive treatment from those around me have reduced me to the sorry state in which I find myself on this late spring afternoon. Am I not a sweet morsel of sugary delight created and designed to put a smile on your lips and a halo of warmth around your heart? But yet I find myself in this sorry state of affairs with no dignity left and this cruel, smile-shaped wound plastered on my face, which unfortunately some mistake as a commentary on my emotional well-being. All I know right now is I'm down and out, broken from the outside in, and the only consolation I find is the fact that art can be made from leftovers and discarded treasures can sometimes become masterpieces when the right person finds them." - Rick Orrell (I know - quite a reversal from yesterday's happy-go-lucky, feel good theme. Just one of those days where I didn't feel all bright and shiny. Fortunately I don't feel as despondent as my prose might indicate. Sometimes over-dramatizing one's feelings can be cathartic. Now go and have a nice day! :-))

Tender shoots on new branches jockey for position with the weathered old cyclops. The sky is the great equalizer providing contrast for the flashy new upstarts and a soft, familiar blanket for the crusty, grizzled guard." - Rick Orrell

I read fluffy clouds are pirate ships, awash in a sea of blue, it's true, the world seems a whole lot bigger and you see a whole lot more when you're four." - Rick Orrell

Rick Orrell (Ricardo38) > May 08, '08 - "Path Of The Lonely" The path of the lonely stands wild and untamed with a colorful tangle of brambles on one side and a twisted knot of vines on the other. Every step leads you further from the sounds of celebration and every turn takes you farther from the refuge of jubilation. Slowly but deliberately you trudge along with eyes averted and try to hide the glistening tear that leaks from the windows to your soul. But I know your pain and I feel your heartbreak even as you start to run blindly and recklessly down the curving path that lies ahead of you. Slow down and accept the friendship and companionship I offer for no longer will you have to walk alone and no longer will you cry bitter tears with no one to offer understanding and relief. For I will be the one to not only undergird you with my strength and overwhelming power but I will be the one to also give you peace in times of stress, relief in times of pressure, and comfort when it seems that no one has time for you. Don't despair because now is the time you've waited for with baited breath and now is the time for you to turn the corner and run headlong into the laughing sunshine and flower-filled meadow that awaits the entrance of you and I." - Rick Orrell
