No, this isn't a photo-merge, it just looks that way. I found this fountain today by accident and was excited to try out my new 85mm f1.8 lens. I surprised myself by being able to shoot it at 15th of a second (hand held), which for me is like rubbing your belly and patting your head, or is it the other way around?? :-)))

Almost through first grade now
with an eye on what the future holds for me.
Doctor? Lawyer? Musician? Minister? Artist?
Writer? Teacher? Business owner? Governor? President?
I know you have a lot of hopes and dreams for what I might become,
and you're doing the best you can to prepare me
to be the best I can be in whatever lies ahead of me.
But remember, there's One who walks beside me every day
and not only has high hopes and best wishes for my success,
but He has a plan for my life already
and is working to see that my steps are guided
in the path that will help me accomplish that grand scheme.
So rest easy tonight knowing that I will eventually grow up
and launch out on my own in this cold, cruel world.
But I will never forget where I came from
or the lessons you've tried so hard to instill in me.
The times you thought I wasn't listening or paying attention
were some of the times I was MOST focused
on what you were saying or doing
and like a sponge I was soaking up every bit of it.
So thanks for helping me through these first six years
and building in me a foundation that won't crumble
when the earth begins to shake
and won't wash away with the springtime floods.
Because of your time and effort
I have a fighting chance to succeed in this world.

A million drops hit the water
without a clue as to why they're in this predicament.
Up and down, in and out,
not much change in the routine
except when some algae with a death wish
dares to clog up the intake valve.
All of this for the visual pleasure
of some guy driving by with a camera.
All of this frantic madness
just so a person with some extra time on his hands
can stop for a second or two
and breathe a little deeper,
maybe breathe a little easier
as he contemplates the beauty
in something as simple as a fountain.

As I look through this glass darkly,
I strain to see what might be
or maybe what it's not.
Is that a gigantic eye from a prehistoric beast
looking in the other side
just waiting til I finish lollygagging around
so he can devour me?
Or could it be a white mouse
standing on the edge of a wishing well
hoping and praying and believing
for just one more piece of cheese
to feed his growing family?
What if this is the time machine
I've always dreamed of
and I can now go back to that afternoon in 1974
when a seven year old boy
was manacled to a ball and chain
from which he would still be fighting to be freed of
at the age of 40.......

One can dream of freedom and liberation
while another shivers from frightful nightmares.
Sometimes all it takes is an empty glass of tea,
an overactive imagination
and an unoccupied computer keyboard.

Frenetic energetic rush of lights and sound
bombard my senses and my sense of decency
as I struggle to maintain the status quo
in the midst of the chaotic
and I struggle to continue living up to the hype
that is force-fed to us from the would-be mental giants
that are, in reality, intellectual misfits
masquerading as the social elite among us.
