Artist Profile: Dr. Karl S. Tepfer

I have participated in a number of advanced workshops offered by the Rocky Mountain School of Photography and Popular Photography and Imaging. Being chosen to be the principle photographer for the 9/11/03 American Red Cross ceremony at the Statue of Liberty honoring families who lost relatives at the World Trade Center was a significant honor. As a result of competitions, a number of my photographs are now on permanent display at various hospitals in the NY metropolitan area. Two photographs also won the honor of being featured in the 2002 calendar and two were selected as winning the competition for inclusion in the 2008 calendar distributed to every household (750,000) in the Town of Hempstead, NY. Just found out one of my images was also selected for the 2012 calendar. Many of my images are on display and available for purchase in numerous retail shops as well as various art festivals. My submissions have been featured a number of times in Newsday, most recently December 5th 2011. In addition, a number of my photojournalistic news images have been featured online in the many "Patch" online sites throughout Long Island during the past few years.

I'm proud to announce that my "Tribute in Lights" gallery was chosen for inclusion in the formerly active "Home Ground" web site. Home Ground was a project which focused on reaching out to 9/11 rescue and recovery workers who may continue to feel the impact of the loss of peers and/or the stressful conditions of that unique work.

Me at 13,223 feet on top of a mountain in Colorado. If I had taken a few steps back you wouldn't be reading this!
