"LIGHT WINGS" by Ed Carpenter

"Be as a bird perched on a frail branch that she feels bending beneath her, still she sings away all the same, knowing she has wings." ~ Victor Hugo

First of all, thank you so very kindly for your comments on yesterday's "Cowgirl" photo for Kim's (aka Scianghetti) "Stranger Challenge." Now, for me, that was a REAL challenge, because (1) I very rarely take photos of strangers; and (2) I don't post "people shots." Needless to say, I certainly stepped out of my comfort zone:). I think it landed in the #2 spot (Kim's was #1). It was a fun challenge and I enjoyed seeing all of the other photos of "strangers."

Furthermore, this concludes the "Christmas in Arizona 2011" series which has lasted approximately three months, but here's another SOOC photo at the airport in Houston, TX.

According to Ed Carpenter's website, "Like luminous wings of a bird, or an exotic flying ship, the sculpture plays beneath the skylight. In daylight it projects the sun's rays in colored swaths onto the floor and reflects moving images over the ceiling and walls. At night, programmed lighting creates mysterious kinetic light paintings. From different vantage points various compositions reveal themselves, offering new views as travelers move through the airport. Each visit produces fresh discoveries depending on time of day and year." ~ Reprinted text from the artist's official website here: http://www.edcarpenter.net/portfolio/0305.html

"VW BEETLE"

"Nothing but heaven itself is better than a friend who is really a friend." ~ Plautus

Tigers, leopards, and cheetahs, oh my!!!!

I purchased this souvenir in Arizona for my best friend during the Christmas (2011) holidays. She adores animal prints and collects miniature cars. What a perfect souvenir! I shipped this and a few other goodies to her (via UPS) on Friday, March 19, 2012 and she received it on March 20, 2012. We are always shipping each other something; the UPS guys should love us:). By the way, September will mark our 24th year as best friends. We both relish loyalty and longevity.

Well, my Los Angeles Lakers were defeated by the Sacramento Kings last night by a score of 113 - 96. Unfortunately, it was not broadcast in our area.

TGIF!!!! Take a ride on the "wild" side today.

"TWINKLE, TWINKLE"

"Women who love hats don't get jealous. It makes them happy to see a hat that looks good on someone else. Women who wear hats know who they are." ~ Unknown Author

What "hat" we here?

I don't wear hats......period. I'm certainly not jealous of those who wear them; and I certainly know who and whose child I am. Yesterday, I posted a photo of a car that I purchased as a souvenir for my best friend who collects miniature cars and loves animal prints. Well, this one was purchased for a colleague who not only loves hats, but wears them well. I love the clear rhinestones; however, the sparkles in the background from the decorative sticks in the vase (January table setting centerpiece) cause them to look various colors. In order to photograph this hat, I held it up with my left hand while holding the camera with my right hand, all the while trying to make sure my hand was not visible in the photo.

For the women (and men) who do wear hats, remember to "Leave everyone wondering which is the more interesting piece of work.......you or your hat." ~ Anonymous Author

Thanks for taking the time to peruse and comment on my photos; I never take it for granted.

Have a "twinkle, twinkle" Saturday full of "sparkle," my friends.
