APPLE STORE opened at Scottsdale Quarter on June 12, 2009 in Scottsdale, AZ.

"Steven Paul Jobs (February 24, 1955 – October 5, 2011) was an American businessman and inventor widely recognized as a charismatic pioneer of the personal computer revolution.[5][6] He was co-founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of Apple Inc. Jobs was co-founder and previously served as chief executive of Pixar Animation Studios; he became a member of the board of directors of The Walt Disney Company in 2006, following the acquisition of Pixar by Disney." ~ Repritned text from here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Jobs

"APPLE STORE"

"Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition." ~ Steve Jobs

A year ago today, Steve Jobs died. Apple Store opened at Scottsdale Quarter on June 12, 2009 in Scottsdale, AZ.

"BAZAAR RED" Theme

"One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well." - Virginia Woolf

This wooden table in the kitchen (breakfast nook) in Arizona was decorated, but not with a Christmas theme. The Hometrends design dinner plates are contemporarily styled with hand-drawn designs that serve as the ideal backdrop for flavors from around the world. Not only is this dinnerware set a great choice for entertaining, but it is also well-suited for all occasions.

Today, (Rev) Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. would have been 83 years old.

Thanks so much for your comments yesterday regarding the Tuskegee Airmen's "Red Tail" aircraft.

"BANG!"

"A fanatic is one who sticks to his guns whether they're loaded or not." ~ Franklin P. Jones

I was wondering if this photo was a little too risqué for the dailies, and I certainly don't want to offend anyone. It's an interesting, odd, and unique lamp that I wanted to share with my SmugMug friends. Typically, the last thing you want to see in any room is a gun, except in the case of this fierce work of art. Also, notice the on/off switch is none other than a bullet that appears to be falling into the barrel. Finally, there are a series of gun lamps consisting of table and floor models; and they can be an expensive piece of home decor, too!

It's Friday the 13th; are you superstitious? I'm not. Have a safe and funtagious Friday.

"TICK TOCK"

"Don't watch the clock; do what it does. Keep going." ~ Sam Levenson

SOOC, uncropped - A colorful wall clock printed with images of enlarged license plates that feature bronze distress marks and fret-cut, black metal hands on a wood-composite base.

"As we look into 2012 we look at a block of time. We see 12 months, 52 weeks, 365 days, 8,760 hours, 525,600 minutes, 31,536,000 seconds. And all is a gift from God. We have done nothing to deserve it, earn it, or purchased it. Like the air we breathe, time comes to us as a part of life. The gift of time is not ours alone. It is given equally to each person. Rich and poor, educated and ignorant, strong and weak – every man, woman and child has the same twenty-four hours every day."

"Another important thing about time is that you cannot stop it. There is no way to slow it down, turn it off, or adjust it. Time marches on. And you cannot bring back time. Once it is gone, it is gone. Yesterday is lost forever. If yesterday is lost, tomorrow is uncertain. We may look ahead at a full year’s block of time, but we really have no guarantee that we will experience any of it."

"Obviously, time is one of our most precious possessions. We can waste it. We can worry over it. We can spend it on ourselves. Or, as good stewards, we can invest it in the kingdom of God. The new year is full of time. As the seconds tick away, will you be tossing time out the window, or will you make every minute count?" ~ Steven B. Cloud

Thanks for all of your wonderful comments on yesterday's "Jolly Cactus" photo; it landed in the #3 spot.

Hang in there; tomorrow is Friday!

"ROTARY DIAL"

Flashback Friday.........

"I keep the telephone of my mind open to peace, harmony, health, love and abundance. Then, whenever doubt, anxiety or fear try to call me, they keep getting a busy signal - and soon they'll forget my number." ~ Edith Armstrong

Call someone and tell them that the "Red Tails" movie (about the Tuskegee Airmen) opens in theaters today. Official website here: http://www.redtails2012.com/

Does anyone remember a telephone like this? I do; my grandparents owned one similar to this one. In our home, we had the more up-to-date version: Model 220 Trimline that hung on the wall; but I am not familiar with "party lines."

According to Wikipedia, "The rotary dial is a device mounted on or in a telephone or switchboard that is designed to send electrical pulses, known as pulse dialing, corresponding to the number dialed. The early form of the rotary dial used lugs on a finger plate instead of holes. Almon Brown Strowger filed the first patent for a rotary dial, U.S. patent#486,909, on December 21, 1891 that was later issued to him on November 29, 1892." ~ Reprinted texts from here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotary_dial

Thanks for your overwhelmingly kind comments regarding yesterday's "Tick Tock" shot; your photos have been outstanding as well.

TGIF!!! Have a safe weekend.

"GLOW"

"There are two kinds of light - the glow that illumines, and the glare that obscures." ~ James Thurber

First of all, I am humbly appreciative of your comments on yesterday's "rotary dial" telephone; it landed in the #1 spot!! Additionally, I am elated that it brought back memories for a lot of you.

SOOC comes this palm illuminated by the sun. I spotted it from the kitchen window all aglow among other towering palm trees and cacti in the back yard near the pool area at the home-away-from-home in Arizona.

Did anyone go to the theater last night to see the premiere of the "Red Tails" movie about the Tuskegee Airmen?

Have a great Saturday; there are not enough days in the weekend:).

"PRICKLY"

"The world is full of cactus, but we don't have to sit on it." ~ Will Foley

I think this is a Mojave Yucca cactus. It is located in the backyard near the pool area, on opposite sides of the palm tree in yesterday's photo.

I honestly appreciate your comments on yesterday's palm tree; it landed in the #2 spot. I enjoy perusing and commenting on your photos equally as much. This is a very supportive community of photographers!!!

This is another day that the Lord has made! Have a great Sunday; be blessed and share the rest.
