> Carol Gauthier, Office Associate II (Employee)
Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources

Carol is responsible for the administrative support to the Harness Racing and Milk Commissions. She is a pleasure to work with and is always available to help others. Her ability to work efficiently provided the opportunity to take on many diverse and challenging responsibilities within the department. Her dedication to the needs of the department and willingness to step in whenever she is needed is proof she is a dependable asset to the department.

> Kathy Eickenberg, Policy Development Specialist
Manager of the Year

Kathy has managed the Bureau of Parks & Lands planning efforts to great success. During the past six months she has also assumed many of the responsibilities of the Deputy Director. This includes substantial work in reviewing and pursuing various acquisition projects and handling the requirements of the Federal Forest Legacy grants. She has effectively managed the planning staff in completing management plans, overseeing conservation easements, the acquisition of land, and management of state and federal grants. She also has managerial oversight over several programs and the Bureau’s leases and property records.

> Mark Roberts, Civil Engineer III
Manager of the Year

Mark exemplifies the competencies expected of a project manager and leader. He is especially adept at conserving State and Federal resources and has molded a highly productive engineering team, executing over 5 million dollars worth of projects yearly. Mark requires little guidance, and is a fair arbiter and the very best supervisor in our organization.

> Denice Baron, Contract Grant Specialist
Employee of the Year

Denice is the go-to person at MEMA for all contract and business related issues. She has initiated and secured several critical stand-by contracts for emergency supplies (cots, blankets, food, water, etc) with private sector entities. Denice is recognized statewide for her efforts on disaster recovery projects with FEMA, County and Local agencies.

> Andrew Johnson, Environmental Specialist IV
Manager of the Year

Andy’s contributions and dedication to the environmental protection programs at the federal, state and local levels are significant, important, appreciated and difficult to list in a simple paragraph. Despite a great many demands Andy fosters a congenial rapport with everyone who works with him and for him, making Andy a truly outstanding manager and worthy of honor and recognition.

> Lisa Higgins, Environmental Engineer
Employee of the Year

Lisa is recognized for leading the efforts in 2010 and 2011 which pushed the EPA to establish more technologically appropriate requirements in their air toxics standards that could affect thousands of Maine boilers. She continues to provide daily assistance to the affected facility owners, serves as a volunteer licenser, and performs her regular job tasks with passion and dedication.
