Paul personifies the best qualities of a highly respected, caring, and effective manager. He has led the Civil Acute Admitting Unit at Riverview Psychiatric Center for the past four and a half years. Paul demonstrates the basic tenets of good leadership, teamwork, education, and accountability. He achieves success by walking the talk and his commitment is unwavering. He innovatively ensures each client is able to receive individualized treatment and is an exemplary role model for his staff.

> Curt Johnson, Superintendent, Maine Wildlife Park
Manager of the Year

Curt is responsible for leading the continued growth of Maine Wildlife Park. Visitation to the park has increased to over 100,000 annually; and generated revenues to bring the park into the ‘black’. Curt has had the opportunity to oversee the construction and improvement of over a dozen wildlife exhibits and displays, increased volunteer participation to 150, and has expanded special events.

Employee of the Year

Robert assists with administration of the department’s regional wildlife programs. Robert is responsible for coordinating the environmental review work including the complex task of assessing the impacts of nearly a dozen wind power projects on wildlife resources in this region. Robert is well respected by both his peers and the public for his extensive knowledge and dedication to wildlife resources.

> Everson Stinson, Casework Supervisor
Manager of the Year

Everson has provided an extraordinary service to the citizens of Maine and to his staff located in Aroostook, Penobscot, Washington, and parts of Somerset Counties. Everson supervises by setting an example of excellence, fairness, and trust. He is rewarded by the respect, loyalty, and diligence of his staff. Everson’s staff has had the best statistics for job placement, client satisfaction, and rehabilitation placement in the State of Maine. Much of this success can be attributed to the support and guidance that Everson has provided. He was involved in many positive changes in the Bureau of Rehabilitation Services which allowed clients and staff to develop sensible vocational work goals.

> Adam Fisher, Director Public Information
Employee of the Year

Adam has had to deal with a variety of issues that have taken him away from his core responsibilities, yet he continually performs at a level that is “above and beyond” to accommodate others’ needs. Adam probably knows more about the Department than anyone else; he is abreast of all policies, programs, and events undertaken by the Department of Labor. He is approachable, and never lets his co-workers feel that they are bothering him. Often when times feel tense, he can find a way to make people smile by providing his little gems of wisdom or harmless practical jokes to lighten the mood.
