Manager of the Year

Heidi is recognized as an important asset to the Department. She sets an excellent example of how to communicate with both the public and her colleagues. She is respected for treating employees fairly and for her bountiful knowledge of the commercial fishing industry. Her strong work ethic shows as she does not settle for mediocre results. Heidi strives to provide the fishing industry, the scientific community, media and other interested parties with the most precise, up-to-date information available.

> Marcy Nelson, Marine Resource Scientist I
Employee of the Year

Marcy’s knowledge and background lead her to inherit the responsibility of overseeing aquatic animal health issues. When a new parasitic oyster disease was detected, she acted thoughtfully and quickly. Through her admirable perseverance she dug to the bottom of issues until she was confident in her ability to reach a conclusion. She developed rational, well thought out, well conceived responses to the ever changing issues. She communicated with the Department staff and oyster farmers daily in order to keep them informed of her decisions. This effort earned her the respect of her colleagues and the community.

> Lieutenant William Harwood, Maine State Police
Manager of the Year

Lt. William Harwood is recognized for his dedication and commitment to the Department of Public Safety, his professional accomplishments, and his admirable leadership and management skills. Lt. Harwood was asked to take over the Director’s position at the State Police Crime Lab at a particularly challenging juncture. Lt. Harwood demonstrated tremendous dedication and commitment as he worked tirelessly to make positive changes to processes and the staff culture in two growing and heavily tasked offices. His dedication and commitment are outstanding, and he exhibits the personal and professional characteristics that represent the ideals that we all strive for.

> Tracy Poulin, Contract Grant Specialist
Employee of the Year

Tracy is the person who we rely on when we have a tight timeline, a tough project, a question, or simply need someone with the sheer determination, drive, and ability to ‘get it done’. She has an in depth knowledge of state and federal processes which is a valuable asset to the Department. Tracy’s initiative and organizational skills give her the ability to be effective and efficient. She is truly deserving of the ‘Employee of the Year’ recognition.

> Eric Bellavance, Sr. Motor Vehicle Section Manager
Manager of the Year

Eric sets high standards for himself and the individuals he oversees. He works hard to make sure each staff member knows that he/she is an important part of the team and is always available to listen to their opinions. Eric’s colleagues describe him as a truly caring and genuine individual.
