> This Penguin photographed at the 2004 Annual Regatta @ Conquest, says it all. A pristine wood boat lovingly maintained by its owner; but it's regatta-time and everyone is tired, happy, and too kicked back to pick up... just yet.

> Sunset Saturday night, 2006 Annual Regatta at Conquest. The boats anchored out are the Magothy River fleet, which raced over from Annapolis.

> Comet North Americans, 2005. Saturday the remnants of Hurricane Dennis came through Maryland. Throughout the races we heard ominous rumblings from Chestertown. The threat of severe thunderstorms was real, and the weather forced the Comets to shore.

> All the mothers heave a collective sigh of relief as the little ones finally get rigged and into the water. Time to enjoy the peace and quiet.

> Lunch time and everyone is back on shore for lunch. Notice the kids perched on the lifeguard stand, which is now gone. Learning how to scale this platform was a right of passage for many CRYC youth when they were very small. I must admit, I was sad to see it go. Although a cautious mother, Conquest Beach and this lifeguard stand represented to me the kind of freedom I had when I was a young child - to explore, to take chances, to become more competent, beyond the gaze of our parent's eyes.
