AN OFFICIAL ARIZONA CENTENNIAL LEGACY PROJECT
" A Legacy of Honor, Valor and Pride: A Tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen"
Hosted by the Commemorative Air Force Arizona Wing Aviation Museum, Falcon Field, Mesa in collaboration with The Archer-Ragsdale Arizona Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen, Incs. and The Buffalo Soldiers of the Arizona Territory - Ladies and Gentlemen of the Regiment.
Dear Cmdr Fred and Michelle London-Marable, Founders
Your participation coupled with the tribute to Arizona's Tuskegee Airmen and General Marcia Anderson's participation will vividly portray the passing of a symbolic torch among the generations of men and women of color that sacrificed to protect Arizona and the United States. In conclusion, "The Commemorative Air Force Arizona Wing Aviation Museum, Falcon Field, Mesa are deeply appreciative for Cmdr Fred Marable and Michelle London-Marable invaluable insights, passion and devotion to this unique and important event -- one which we will all be proud of for the significant value it will provide the public at this important time of celebration".
By all accounts, the 2012 MLK Tribute to Arizona's Tuskegee Airmen was a hugh success -- we think way beyond the outcome we all hoped for during these many months of preparation. The ceremony drew just under 1,000 attendees, ranking is as one of the top single-day undertakings our Museum has been privileged to present. The attention paid to the ceremony by the media and other interested groups that came to join in the proceedings in the last days prior to January 14 was indeed reassuring feedback.
But the most meaningful feedback came from the honorees themselves. They are very modest men who continue to question "why all the fuss"? They have had accolades heaped upon them by Congress, two Presidents, then Governor Janet Napolitano and other dignitaries, to name but a few. But several honorees and their family members remarked to us that they had never before had such a wonderful honor bestowed upon them as that which we teamed to host on January 14. We believe that feedback stems from the fact that seldon has the community come out so strongly to express its sincere appreciation for what these men endured and accomplished. We owe you an enormous debt of gratitude for that result, because your tireless efforts contributed greatly to community involvement.
"We are deeply aapreciative of the role of the Official Arizona Centennial Legacy "Buffalo Soldiers of the Arizona Territory and Ladies and Gentlemen of the Regiment played in the process leading to the Tribute Event - and, of course, to the unique role played throughout the ceremony. Input received from you laid the groundwork for important segments of the Program (e.g. The Passage of the Legacy). The feedback we have been getting from attendees on the Opening Ceremonies you presented and the Legacy segment have been extremely flatting -- and you therefore both deserve both the spotlight and our thanks. We firmly believe as a result of our collaborative efforts with you, the attendees were rewarded with an experience that was not only enjoyable and fulfilling, but one that was uniquely educational. Also, for your stellar friendship and commitment in the development and presentation of this Tribute Event".
Our permanent Tuskegee Airmen Exhibit at the Museum is in the process of being updated to include the Bio Boards which were on display at the Event (including The Buffalo Soldiers of the Arizona Territory and Ladies and Gentlemen of the Regiment). The "Red Tails" experience will gone on and on, as we continue to educate the public about the Tuskegee Airmen Legacy.
