Early morning birding around the Portuguese Bridge, then noon birding around the Debre Libanos Monastery. In hindsight it would have been better to start at the monastery. All key species seen.
After driving to Muke Turi for lunch (Orthodox Easter Sunday, so we were hoping for lamb), we headed east along a very well-maintained gravel road to the small village of Lemi.
We spent the afternoon in the Jemma Valley, walking around the Bailey Bridge area. Again, all key species seen. Highlight was a close encounter with the superb Fox Kestrel.
Evening and night in a basic guesthouse in Lemi to be able to position us at dawn in the escarpment for some serious Francolin-spotting!
