The drive down to Liguria is a trip indeed! Coming into Liguria on the A7, we find that the hills require that the Autostrade take a route full of switchbacks- it’s quite the carnival ride! Karin ends up giggling for much of the ride, half from the thrill, half from fear.
The A12 along the coast is a feat of engineering- it seems to be more tunnel than open road (anyone want to take a stab on the real proportion of tunnels along this route?)
It takes us 3 ¼ hours (including the stop for food and going around in circles a bit out of Malpensa) for us to reach our hotel in Sestri Levante: The Grand Hotel Dei Castelli . It’s well worth the trip!
