Our plans to take a ferry to Cinque Terre are thwarted by the notice at the ferry dock (conveniently located across the street from the Castello’s street-level elevator). Due to weather conditions, the ferries are not running. The sky is clear, the air is warm, but the surf we noticed yesterday in the natural pool continues today, and it’s apparently enough to preclude ferrying. We take the train instead, to start our hike in Manarola.
On the way, Vlad comments on Karin’s “serious hiking” outfit, but once catching sight of the trail ahead is rather wishing he had one of his own.
