I had the pleasure of working with the staff and wonderful Dobies at Doberman Rescue Unlimited to create a photo essay that illustrates a day in the life of their amazing organization. The dedication of the staff and their impact on the lives of each Dobie is clearly evident in the eyes of each and every dog (see photos from their portrait session). The rescue is a place of hope and care created by a very special group of people to whom I am incredibly grateful.

MuddyPawStudio > Doberman Rescue Unlimited, Inc., founded in 1988, is located in Sandown, New Hampshire and is the second largest Doberman rescue in the United States.

MuddyPawStudio > Doberman Rescue Unlimited (DRU) is not your average rescue shelter. The Rescue can house 50 residents at a time, and additional dogs in foster homes.

MuddyPawStudio > Given the volume of dogs at DRU the staff must be coordinated and efficient to be sure no dog is forgotten. They use a map of the facility to detail and track the location and feeding of each dobie.

MuddyPawStudio > After each feeding the runs are hosed and washed down to keep the dog's areas as clean and comfortable as possible.

MuddyPawStudio > After each feeding all runs are hosed and washed down to keep the dog's areas as clean and comfortable as possible. The floors of each run are heated to keep the dogs warm in winter.

MuddyPawStudio > While the dogs are in the outside portion of the runs, the staff collect bowls, toys and blankets for cleaning. Water bowls are refilled, and new bedding and toys are placed in each run.

MuddyPawStudio > Hundreds of blankets and dog beds must be washed and dried daily. Members often donate supplies to help keep costs under control.

MuddyPawStudio > Once breakfast in complete, play time begins. Dasch is eager to see who will play with him.
