MuddyPawStudio  > Photo Essays > Doberman Rescue Unlimited - A Day in the Life
I had the pleasure of working with the staff and wonderful Dobies at Doberman Rescue Unlimited to create a photo essay that illustrates a day in the life of their amazing organization. The dedication of the staff and their impact on the lives of each Dobie is clearly evident in the eyes of each and every dog (see photos from their portrait session). The rescue is a place of hope and care created by a very special group of people to whom I am incredibly grateful.

Please donate to their organization and, if you think a Doberman is in your future and you live in the New England/New York region, consider contacting them and adopting a rescued Dobie.

MuddyPawStudio > While out on her walk Meg meets some neighbors, a pair of alpacas. Afternoon walks through a nearby neighborhood provide an opportunity for staff to train and gauge the social skills of the dogs. They encounter children, dogs, cats, and, apparently, less traditional pets.
MuddyPawStudio > Between play time and dinner you can also get to know the story behind each resident.
MuddyPawStudio > “Gator liked to snap at the kids in his house.” The Rescue works hard to place dogs in homes that match their personalities. Many people buy or adopt a Doberman not realizing the amount of training and time required to create the environment the breed requires.
MuddyPawStudio > As the afternoon progresses the cleaning and feeding ritual begins again. In one year the Rescue uses 500 gallons of laundry detergent, 1,500 rolls of paper towels, 14,600 pounds of raw meat, 6,250 pounds of kibble, and 1,000 pounds of hotdogs (for training treats and for administering medications).
MuddyPawStudio > After dinner everyone socializes. Time to visit with staff and “converse” with each other. Sabrina shows off her toy.
MuddyPawStudio > Another full day has come to an end at the Rescue. Johnson settles in for the night. The staff dream of him finding the perfect loving home he deserves.
MuddyPawStudio > For some Dobermans the Rescue will be their home for the rest of their lives. Each dog who passes away or must be put down (which is very rare) is buried in a special place below the momorial tree.
