NaturePhotographers > flyaway  > Nature > Seasons > Nature in Fall - October-November 2004
The leaves are changing, and falling from the trees. The summer birds have gone south, and the birds for whom this is the south are arriving from their Arctic summer breeding grounds. The small animals are fat with the bounty of nuts and berries. Fall is Nature's big party before she goes to sleep for the winter.

flyaway > Autumn Olive (Elaeagnus umbellata) is a very attractive but highly invasive plant, one of many exotic species planted as ornamentals which are now taking over the landscape. It threatens native ecosystems by out-competing and displacing native plant species, creating dense shade and interfering with natural plant succession and nutrient cycling.
