Texas Hill Country
Clouds and rain for this 5 day visit to the rolling hills of Texas, more or less north of San Antonio and west of Austin. Vineyards, sheep and cattle, and President LBJ's ranch are some of the highlights.

 > Fredricksburg was the home of World War II Admiral Nimitz and so hosts a musuem for the admiral and the war in the Pacific.
 > Special memory plaques for ships and people who servied in the Pacific line long walls at the museum.
 > One goal of the American campaign in the Pacific was to capture or build air fields close to Japan. This plane is an exhibit at the museum.
 > Available souvenirs line the streets of Fredericksburg if you have room to carry them home.
 > On a rainy day, everyone wants shelter from the water... including these sheep in from the field.
 > A Hill Country welcome... or a plea for liberation?
 > Inquisitive... like young things everywhere.
 > The family burial spot on the LBJ ranch. The high marker in the center is LBJ's place... and the open area to the left is a future resting place for Lady Bird.

 > The sign says it all... a woman from this farm was the mid-wife at the birth of LBJ across the river. Worth a visit if you are in the area. Be sure to talk with the volunteers about early life on the farm.
