Nanluoguxiang is not far from Houhai(后海), but is more low-key. There are a lot of interesting restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and shops there. It is well worth an evening. My favorite places to eat there are Shaorouren (barbecue person, 烧肉人) and a Korean restaurant Saveurs de Coree. There are a lot of other interesting looking places there but I haven't had a chance to try them.

The red restaurant on the left is very good and interesting barbecue place called Shaorouren (烧肉人） which means Barbecue Person. The barbecuing is done right at your seat. At least when I visited, you could earn a free order of barbecued beef tongue if you kiss your dining companion for ten seconds.
