International Air Show, Manila, Philippines - 1960
November 1960 - International Airshow at Manila airport in the Philippines. Australian, Chinese Nationals, Philippine and US Navy aircraft were participants. I was assigned to a Communcations Transceiver/Generator for the US Navy part of the Airshow. So I had a closeup view of all of the action.
The generator was pulled behind a NAS Sangley Point Crash Truck which we road to Manila Airport on. The photos were taken by Bob Pritzl (except for the ones with him in the picture).

 > Manila Airport - November 1960 - Austrailian Cargo plane was demostrating it's accuracy supply drops with 500 lb sandbags. After I took this shot, I looked down and was forwarding the film. The crowd noise became suspiciously "different". I looked up to see this 500 lb bag at the end of a "foiled" (candlestick) parachute heading directly at me. I jumped/ran onto the runway until I heard the splat which was about 3 seconds after I saw it. It dug a trench and spread sand right about 10 feet from where I HAD been standing.
