Alan Hinkel Photography--Mississippi Gulf Coast : photos : Car Wrecks : It looks much worse in person.This was my first car.My brother was borrowing it that day.This is a 1989 Honda Accord.This picture was taken after the car was turned back over,after being flipped from the wreck on August 20,1991.The car that struck it was going between 75-80 mph(according to police re-creation)My brother was turning north on to Westwood st.after going east on Beach Blvd.The other car was traveling east on Beach Blvd.at a high rate of speed.When the driver of the Dodge(Troy Mathis),also traveling east, realized he couldn't stop behind the two cars behind my brother,he tried to go around them,and hit my brothers car as my brother was turning on to Westwood st.My brother had his seatbelt on,and was hanging upside down in the car before paramedics cut him down.He also had his turn signal on(according to Pascagoula Police Officers).My brothers injuries were traumatic and life changing.He had a broken pelvis,lacerated spleen and liver,blood clot in the brain,and was rendered quadrapelegic due to a spinal cord injury at the 6th thoracic vertabrea.He passed away February 28,1998 as a result of this wreck.The driver of the other car had a knee injury,spent one night in juvenile hall,and recieved a 300 dollar fine.- powered by SmugMug

My brothers car wreck on the 20th of August 1991.Pictures 1-24,He passed away on February 28th,1998 as a result of injuries recieved in this car Wreck,and Troy Mathis is to blame.No One else.Hopefully one day I can forgive him.Please Respect these images,and don't copy them.I just want to share these with people to raise awareness.This wreck,not accident,or incident happened on Beach Boulevard in Pascagoula,MS.The speed limit is 25 MPH.The Mathis car was travelling around 80 MPH.There was no alcohol or drugs involved.The driver of the other car(Mathis)had just gotten out of school(High School)when this occured.I think he was probably showing off for the 2 friends that were passengers when the wreck happened.My brother was alone,and was coming home after a dental exam and stopping to get lunch at Edd's Drive Inn.
