Welcome to David Englund Photography I'm David Englund, amateur photographer, and software test analyst. Please browse the galleries and enjoy!

I've been a photography enthusiast for most of my life, having begun shooting in 1972 in high school for the yearbook staff. Not long after HS I bought my first film SLR - a Pentax K1000. It came with a standard 50mm lens, but I later purchased a used 28mm and a Pentax 300mm. Somewhere around 1980 I purchased a Nikon FE with a 105mm Nikor lens from a friend of mine. So, at that point I had two good cameras and several competent lenses.

I think it was about 1998 that I purchased my first digital camera. A Kodak DC215 with a 1Mpx CCD! Well, that was a pretty disappointing experience after my previous film-based 35mm SLRs! For a while I went back to 35mm, using a Minolta Maxxum 7000 (Wow! Autofocus!). Eventually, I decided to give digital another try, and I purchased a Canon G5. Now we're talking! Yes, it was still new technology and things were changing fast, but this was way better than the days of the DC215. Now I could take pictures that would produce excellent quality 4x6 prints. And no more film development. After I got the G5, I went digital and never looked back.

Recently, I decided to take my passion for photography to another level. I purchased a Canon 30D body, and Canon 100mm macro USM, Canon 70-200 f/4L USM, and Canon 17-40mm f/4L USM lenses. Frankly, I have a dream I am pursuing, to become a pro photographer and develop both a business and passion through which I can inspire others.

For me, all of creation speaks of God's glory and goodness, and photography is a means through which I enjoy celebrating them both. If my photography inspires, then it would seem others have entered into something of that celebration.
