sorry about the ugly watermark on images of my daughter, family and friends. I recently found some stolen photos of my daughter so I'm trying to protect them every way that I can.

Day 137 - the healthy twist

when I start putting a healthy twist on sausage, does that mean I really need help? LOL. Let me just say that I LOVE fennel. If you don't care for onions then fennel is your friend. If you eat it raw it's a pretty strong black licorice flavor, but cooked it's toned down to a mild sweet flavor. It also stays pretty crunchy and doesn't get too soggy when cooked. I cooked it with zucchini and cilantro, then I topped my sausage and cottage cheese with a couple pieces also. it's good stuff. I can't get enough of it.

Day 136 - dog sitter

we are watching my sisters dog for the weekend. you have all seen him before. I love this guy. he is the most laid back dog you will ever meet. it's been fun watching him and a good excercise to see if we are ready to have one of our own someday. I can say as of right now O is NOT ready. she bugged him so much that he growled at her and that is a hard thing to accomplish with this dog. he is seriously mr. mellow and lets her do a lot before he gives her a warning growl.

Day 135 - purple princess

well, this is actually my third attempt at making a dress. the first I used a pattern and could NOT understand it. you couldn't even call it a dress. the second attempt was a success, but it was practice fabric (ie: really ugly). So here is my third attempt. I didn't use a pattern. my sewing is really sloppy. this fabric is slippery and hard to work with.

PS - if anybody knows a good way to hem neckline and sleeves please tell me. Maybe I need to leave more fabric to fold back? I was working with about an inch of fabric and didn't get it sewn back because I didn't have enough.

Day 134 - summer reflections

can you tell I'm already missing summer. lol. it's still probably a month away. and even into October it will still be fairly warm, like jacket or sweatshirt at night, warm.

Day 133 - haircut

got my hair cut today. it feels so much better to have it off my neck and I love it (looks better in person than it does in this picture). and the image on the right was an accidental while I was moving my camera around. I liked it so there it is.

Day 132 - last days

those glorious and yet sad last days of summer are upon us. seems like just when we are getting started with summer its already gone.

Day 131 - party guest

it was my nieces 6th bday party today. we took them all to Riverfront Park for a few hours then back to my sisters house. We got them dressed up and did their hair, nails and makeup then took them out for dinner to Red Robin. After dinner and desert they got steamed milk from Starbucks and then danced on the dance floor (garage decorated with strobe light and streamers). It was so cute.

This is O, looking out the window watching for the other girls to arrive.

Day 130 - flash

they tv called it a severe thunderstorm and my response was, "Oh, I hope it rains." Luckily the really hot weather is usually followed up with a great thunderstorm to cool things off a little. boy, did we need it last night. two night ago it wasn't even cool in our house at 2am with all the windows open.

this was a flash of lightening above the clouds. from our house we didn't see any actual lightening or get much rain, but the wind felt glorious!

picked up this dried lavender at the farmer's market today. *sigh* I love it. sometimes it's the simple things that make me the most happy.

Day 128 - *sigh* my girl

a rare making eye contact photo from her. it only lasted a second, but I snatched that second up and ran with it. she's getting so big. *sigh*

Day 127 - dark

I did this for a group challenge. ISO 3200 using in camera b&w settings (which I had no idea how to even set before this), no editing. I now know that bridge converts back to color and if I want to keep the b&w settings I have to use the Canon RAW converter and save as a jpg.

Day 126 - cutie

my niece went to preschool with this little boy. they didn't get to continue on into elementary together, but she has stayed good friends with him. isn't he a cutie? :)

Day 125 - coriander

so my cilantro went crazy and I didn't get the buds cut off in time so it all started to bolt. I went out there last night before dinner and decided to cut all the buds off so I could get more actual cilantro leaves. Since I LOVE the smell of cilantro I decided to put them in a vase instead of throwing them away. I mean roses smell beautiful and so do other flowers, but to have my house smell like my favorite food all the time is like heaven. Plus I love their beautiful wild, weed look.

PS - coriander is the dried buds of cilantro.
