 > - Paul Ritchie, Pastor -
I am thankful that my parents demonstrated for me the difference that a relationship with the living God makes in people's lives. When I was eleven I made a response to the Gospel at a Scripture Union camp, however it was not until I had left school that I began to accept the consequences of being a Christian. In my twenties I took a job as a lay assistant in a church and from there I went on to train for pastoral ministry. Over the years in this work I have realised more and more the importance of preaching and teaching from the Bible, I believe that this is the primary way a pastor fulfils their role in the church. I am married to Caroline and we have two children: Anya who is two, and Ronan who was born in June 2006. I enjoy reading and playing football (although I am notably lacking in pace and skill). I am a casual Arsenal supporter but a passionate Munster and Ireland rugby supporter (I'm from Cork but I support Ulster rugby too!).

It's a long story! Here's the short version. I became a Christian when I was seven years old but never really understood that commitment until I was eighteen. For the next eighteen years, journalism was my day job, youth and music ministries were my passion. In 2002, God led me to Kenya to teach me the meaning of "surrender". Africa had such an impact on my life, I've been back eight times in five years! There, I realised it was time for me to play my part instead of endlessly reporting a world that desperately needs people to play their part. I'm now a full time student of the Irish Bible Institute in Dublin and practising ministry in Richhill. Co-ordinating Cafe Church, managing the Tom Team, working with the Pastoral Care Team and liaising between the larger ministry groups (worship, mission, pastoral care and youth) are my main responsibilities. I'm married to Ruth and we have three children: Sarah (04.02.98), James (08.09.99) and Joshua (10.08.04).
